- In a large bowl, beat cream cheese, butter and lemon zest with an electric mixer on medium speed until smooth.
- Next, beat in lemon juice then gradually add powdered sugar, 1 cup at a time. Make sure to beat well after each addition.
- Scrape down bottom and sides of bowl as necessary and beat on medium until smooth, about 1 minute.
- If frosting seems too thin, add powdered sugar 1 tablespoon at a time. If it seems too thick, add more lemon juice 1 teaspoon at a time until frosting reaches desired consistency.
