Fall Mum Cupcakes

Flower season goes out in a blaze of glory with the rich shades of fall mums. Now that vivid palette of green, gold and purple is gathered on cupcakes which feature beautifully textured decorating techniques. Create all the colors using the Color Right Performance Color System.

  1. Icing Colors Tinted

    Use Color Right base colors and QuickCount color formulas to

    tint icing in the following shades:

    Summer Sand: 2 cups white icing + 1 BR + 1 Y

    Forest Green: 2 cups white icing + 4 BR + 5 B + 28 Y

    Spring Purple: 2 cups white icing + 1 B + 15 P

  2. Bake and cool cupcakes.
  3. Prepare to decorate cupcakes.

    Tint icing following QuickCount formulas above.

    Prepare three disposable decorating bags with tip 113 and fill with sand, green and purple icing.

  4. Decorate cupcakes.

    For green leaves design, use tip 113 to pipe overlapping stand-up leaves.

    For sand zigzag design, holding tip opening horizontal, pipe a line of zigzags in center of cupcake, then one on each edge. Pipe another zigzag line in the center, overlapping the first.

    For purple zigzag design, holding tip opening vertical, pipe zigzags from edge of cupcake to center. Repeat, covering the cupcake top.

    For purple ribbon rose design, holding tip opening vertical, wide end touching surface, pipe a ribbon rose that covers the cupcake.

    For green ruffle design, holding tip opening horizontal, pipe a ruffle around the edge of the cupcake. Pipe a second ruffle in center of the cupcake.

    For sand ruffle design, holding tip opening horizontal, pipe a ruffle around the edge of the cupcake. Pipe a second ruffle in center of the cupcake.

    For purple upright zigzag design, holding tip opening vertical, pipe zigzags from center to edge of cupcake. Repeat covering the cupcake top.

    For green zigzag design, holding tip opening horizontal, to pipe two zigzags on outer edges. Fill in with a center zigzag line, overlapping the first zigzags.
