Black White and Teal All Over Cake

What's black and white and teal all over? Well, this cake for one! Sporting an eye-catching black and white pattern and featuring a little pop of teal icing, this Black and White and Teal All Over Cake is sure to be a conversation piece among friends and family.   1. Bake cakes. Prepare batter following recipe instructions. Bake and cool three 10 in. cake layers, trimming one layer to 1 in. high for a 5 in. high tier. Bake and cool three 6 in. cake layers for a 6 in. high tier.
  2. Make icing. Prepare icing following recipe instructions. Tint 1½ cups icing teal following color combinations provided. Reserve remaining icing white.

    *Combine Teal, Royal Blue and Kelly Green icing colors to get teal color shown.

  3. Ice and stack cake tiers. Spatula ice 6 in. tier with reserved white buttercream; spatula swirl top of tier.

    Spatula ice sides of 10 in. tier with remaining white buttercream; using teal icing, ice top of tier.

  4. Prepare fondant.

    Using Black icing color, tint 10 oz. fondant black. Reserve remaining fondant white. Roll out black fondant to 1/8 in. thickness. Cut into 1 3/4 inch x 1/2 inch rectangles. Repeat with white fondant.

    Alternate attaching black and white fondant rectangles to side of 10 inch cake tier.

  5. Assemble cake. Prepare cake for stacked construction.

    Attach green foliage to front of 6 in. tier.
