You can add dimension and texture to your piped flowers by striping your decorating bags with colored frosting so your roses are literally blooming with color. Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 - 3 cups batter of your favorite recipe or 1/2 box cake mix

  • Bright White Candy Melts candy

  • 4 cups Buttercream frosting

  • Purple food coloring

  • Pink food coloring

  • Black food coloring

  • Royal Blue food coloring

  • Leaf Green food coloring

  • Brown food coloring

  • Golden Yellow food coloring

  • Tools

  • Cupcake liners

  • Cake board

  • Wax paper

  • Parchment triangles

  • Decorating bags

  • 2 Petal tip 103

  • 2 Large drop flower tip 2D

  • 1 Leaf tip 352

  • Flower nail

  • Flower lifter or scissors

  • Angled spatula

  1. Bake cupcakes. Bake cupcakes in white cupcake liners and cool completely.
  2. Make bunny ears. Download and print the Bunny Ears Pattern. Position pattern on cake board and tape down to secure. Cover pattern with wax paper.
  3. Melt Candy Melts candy according to package instructions. Prepare a parchment bag with melted candy; cut a small tip. Pipe ears on wax paper. Chill until set, about 10 to 15 minutes.
  4. Tint frosting. Prepare frosting following recipe instructions. Tint icing using the following color combinations provided.
    • Tint 1 cup frosting purple by combining Violet, Pink and Black food coloring
    • Tint 1 cup frosting blue by combining Royal Blue and Black food coloring
    • Tint 1 cup frosting green by combining Leaf Green, Brown, Golden Yellow and Black food coloring
    • Reserve remaining 1 cup frosting white
  5. Prepare decorating bags.
    • Prepare a decorating bag with tip 103 and stripe with purple and white frosting
    • Prepare a decorating bag with tip 103 and stripe with blue and white frosting
    • Prepare a decorating bag with tip 2D and stripe with blue and white frosting
    • Prepare a decorating bag with tip 2D and stripe with purple and white frosting
    • Prepare a decorating bag with tip 352 and fill with green frosting
  6. Decorate cupcakes. Using decorating bags with tip 103, alternate piping purple and blue sweet peas around the outside edge of each cupcake (about five sweet peas per cupcake).
  7. Using a flower nail and decorating bags with tip 103, pipe purple or blue 5-petal roses and place one in the center of each cupcake.
  8. Alternate piping purple and blue 3-petal roses. Position on cupcakes to form a circle around the center rose.
  9. Using decorating bags with tip 2D, alternate piping purple and blue drop flowers around rose and in between sweet peas.
  10. Using a decorating bag with tip 352, pipe leaves.
  11. Using angled spatula, gently remove ears from wax paper and insert into top of the cupcakes.
