I Spot a Rose Cake

  1. Bake cakes. Prepare cake batter following recipe instructions. Bake and cool two cake layers. Level, torte, fill and stack layers for 6 in. high cake. Ice cake smooth.
  2. Tint fondant. Using Pink icing color, tint 6 oz. fondant light pink. Using Black icing color, tint 1½ oz. fondant black.
  3. Make roses. Using fondant roller with pink guide rings, roll our pink fondant. Make seven ribbons roses using Ribbon Rose technique. Set aside.

    Using fondant roller with purple guide rings, roll out black fondant. Using narrow end of tip 8, cut out 500 small black fondant circles. Roll two circles together to create 250 ¼ in. balls.

  4. Tint icing. Tint 1 cup icing bright teal using color combination provided. Combine Teal and a touch of Kelly Green icing colors to get bright teal color shown. Prepare decorating bag with tip 1M and bright teal icing.

    Pipe seven evenly spaced rosettes on top of cake. Position one fondant ribbon rose on top of each rosette. Position black balls around sides of cake, attaching with icing as needed.
